The museum opened in 1967 and has two sections, archaeological and ethnographical, displaying artefacts dating from the Ancient Bronze, Urartu, Frygian and Lydia eras, along with relics from Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine times. Ethnographical items include yoruk rugs, red sacks, utensil pots, jewellery, manuscripts and writing tools and there are stone carvings and mosaics dating from Roman and Byzantine and times.
