The Bay of Adrasan offers a stunning unspoilt beach surrounded by beautiful mountains but the main attraction of this still largely undiscovered backwater of the Turkish Riviera lies a little further inland; a microcosm of almost tropical luxuriance lines the lower course of Adrasan River, shaded by giant plane trees and encircled by flourishing citrus groves. Visitors here will find half dozen unpretentious restaurants and low-key hotels sharing the riverbed and who set their tables in the river and sometimes on islets made for this purpose where ducks and geese, and even a wizened old pelican, share in the festivities. Paradise Cafe is owned by Fiko and his English wife Jill who have been the clear leaders here for more than a decade and a few years ago they added three charming jungle house style bungalows to their restaurant. The setting here is modest and friendly and the riverbed comes alive at night with crowds of diners and revellers with the daytimes being a complete contrast as they are quiet and remarkably slow. The beach can be found just 300 metres down the way.
