The Baroque style Küçüksu Pavilion was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid I (1823-1861) and designed and built by Armenian-Turkish Architect Sarkis Balyan in 1856.  The site had been a "Bostancı Ocağı" (a farming land office) and was also used by the Bosphorous Ocak, a regiment of the Ottoman army. {reklam,300,250,1} In 1752 a wooden kiosk was built by Sadrazam Divittar Emin Mehmet Paşa and when it deteriorated with age it was demolished and the current stone pavilion, or royal lodge, was built to replace it.  The Pavilion is adorned with perfectly engraved rococo ornaments and in 1803 Sultan Selim III dedicated the Baroque style fountain to his mother, Valide Mihrişah Sultan. This and the pool in the garden fit very well with the Pavilion’s design.

The Pavilion is now a museum showcasing its engravings and carvings, crystal chandeliers, carpets and beautiful fireplace, all of which offer its visitors a visionary delight.
