Anatolian Civilisations Museum Ankara

Anatolian Civilisations Museum Ankara
This museum can be found in the Atpazari area on the south side of Ankara Castle and consists of the old Ottoman Mahmut Pasa bazaar storage building and the Kursunlu Han. As it was Ataturk ’s wish to establish a Hittite Museum, Hamit Zubeyir Kosay, the then Culture Minister to the National Education Officer Saffet Arikan, suggested the buildings be bought, after which they were repaired and remodelled, and on completion the building was opened to the public as the Ankara Archaeological Museum in 1968.

The Kursunlu Han is today used as the administrative building and has the work rooms, library, conference hall, laboratory and workshop and the old bazaar building houses the exhibits.
