Etimesgut District

Etimesgut District
Etimesgut district is 20km from the city centre and it is known that Phrygian’s and Hittites had settlements here. After the declaration of the independent Turkish Republic, Turkish immigrants from western Trakya mostly settled in this area.

Points of interest are the historical Gazi Train Station and the Etimesgut Train Station, both used by Ataturk when travelling to and from Istanbul . Etimesgut was named by two significant Turks, Ahi Mes’ud and Ahi Elvan and Elvan’s tomb can be found in the courtyard of the Elvankoy Mosque.
