Akseki is the second oldest district in the province after Antalya , and is in the location of the Taurus Mountains in a forested and very rocky area. Akseki dates back to the Roman period and was known as Marla (Marulya) and has been inhabited since then to the present day and now being developed for the tourist sector.In the Giden Gelmez Mountains there is limited licensed hunting available throughout the year, the wildlife mostly seen are mountain goat, rabbit, bear and fox, although the goats are under protection. Also popular with visitors are the trout farms in the villages of Sinan Hoca and Gumusdamla and the Ulu Mosque and medreses.
