Ancient City of Aspendos Antalya
Aspendos was one of the first cities to mint coins in around 500 BC, and is best known for its theatre, 96m in diameter and seating 7,000, the stage, auditorium and arcade still remain intact. Until recently it was used for concerts and festivals and is much the same as when it was built in 2nd century AD by the Greek architect Zenon.
There is a small museum adjacent to the theatre that exhibits pictures of the theatre entrance tickets, coins and other artefacts. There is also an acropolis, a number of buildings including a nymphaeum, basilica and sections of the main street and drainage system.
