Founded in around 200 BC, it was taken over by the Seljuk’s in 1220, the Ottomans in 1472 and shares much of its history with Side. There are a few shops and cafés available. Buses and dolmus shuttle between here and Side around every 15 minutes and river boat tours available to the falls and ruins.
From Manavgat you can head inland across the beautiful countryside to Ahmetler Canyon and the Alara River or head 30km east to Alarahan to see its 13th century Seljuk caravanserai (kervansaray) built for the traders of Konya and the port of Alanya .
