Phaselis Ancient City
The peninsula has a wonderful main street that starts at the south port and reaches the city gates and is believed to have been used as a stadium from time to time because of its width and short length; it was written that two important athletic competitions took place here.
In the agora are two temples, one for Athena Polias who was the main goddess of Phaselis and the other is for Heista and Hermes and had bronzes of Homer’s mythological hero Achilles with Athena. Other ruins include a church, houses for bishops, and aqueducts, all in the Roman style and in good condition.
Phaselis has a museum where the excavated ancient works found have been housed, and there is also a fine sand beach in a shallow bay with an excellent promenade along with forests and the mountains.
