Selge Ruins Antalya

This ancient mountain city is close to the Köprü Stream (Eurymdon) on the south slope of Toroslar 35km north of Serik and located using the 14km stabilised road with steep bends that is just after the Köprülü Canyon National Park.
On the road through the canyon are engraved rocks covering the slope of the mountain that is similar to the Fairy Chimneys at Goreme and among rich natural beauty.
Selge was once part of Psidia and was taken by the Pampheylia territories and has been ruled by Lydians, Persians, Alexander the Great and the Romans. In the north there is a theatre with 5 gates and 45 steps, in the south a rock carved theatre, a stadium and gymnasium and in the west an Ionian style temple with a ceiling decorated with eagles. South of the stadium are a fountain and agora, with monuments of Artemis and Zeus and the necropolis next to the northern ramparts southwest of the city.
