The ancient Halicarnassus building is located off the Bodrum - Turgutreis road and is the only monumental structure to have survived to the present day that dates from the Classical Age, the time of King Mausolus, and is one of the oldest theatres in all Anatolia.

It has a capacity for 13,000 spectators and has undergone extensive excavation and restoration work, it became an open air museum in 1973 and today this wonderful location hosts many festivals, cultural events, music concerts and dance shows that are mainly held in the summer months of July and August. Visitors are also rewarded with fantastic panoramic views of Bodrum’s peninsula and get experience a very unique atmosphere.
