This secluded location is often missed by foreign tourists and is a very popular and well loved retreat destination for rich and famous Turks coming out of the big cities. Originally it was two secluded bays on the Aegean Sea that has grown rapidly in popularity over the last decade.  From the recent building and development works, the two bays of Golkoy and Turkbuku merged to form the new and fantastic village of Golturkbuku.

Golturkbuku Bay

The small beaches and man-made jetties that jut out into the sea are, in summer, the focus of life and the more adventurous tourist will find a Turkish way of life that is completely different to that found in local villages. The refined bay of Golkoy is quiet and has a simple atmosphere while the bay of Turkbuku is more suited to the colourful and creative visitors who come to the exclusive beach clubs that have staff eagerly waiting on them hand and foot.

Golturkbuku is one of the destinations visited by private yacht owners who tour Bodrum’s Peninsula during their long summer vacations away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

This area has several renowned restaurants, bars, hotels and beach clubs on its shoreline such as the restaurant Maki 29 that is a great place for an evening drink and its bar gets very crowded.

Goturkbuku Hotels

Those looking to detox should head to the Kuum Hotel & Spa Bodrum with its 60 boutique room capacity and 1800m2 of beach that includes yacht and helicopter rental services, and at the LifeCo Bodrum which has even more detox facilities, along with well-being programmes and spa therapies.

At the Macakizi Hotel guests are offered a very luxurious and private experience within a natural beautiful setting, it has a fantastic beach, a spa and Turkish bath, and a first class restaurant serving haute cuisine from its international menu. Another highly esteemed and nearby establishment is the Divan Hotel, with fantastic facilities and has a top notch restaurant serving classic Turkish cuisine.

Getting to Golturkbuku

Lower Golkoy is 15km from Bodrum’s town centre and Upper Golkoy is set amongst the hills lush with pine trees. The whole area sits in the shadow of the Karadag Mountain which is 19km from Bodrum town or 45km from Bodrum airport. If driving there, head for the Yalikavak / Torba crossroads on the Bodrum Milas highway and from there the many small bays of the area are well sign posted. Visitors can also use local transport that run from the centre of Bodrum town. Because of its recent popularity there is now a large selection of hotels to choose from; there are small family run B&B’s in Golkoy’s green valley area and the more luxurious hotels, where you are spoilt for choice, are in the Turkbuku area.
