Road Trip From Sarigerme to Dalaman, Gocek, Fethiye and Oludeniz

Road Trip From Sarigerme to Dalaman, Gocek, Fethiye and Oludeniz

From Mugla take the Fethiye road towards Ortaca and 15km further on is Sarigerme which in recent years has become a very popular tourist resort. The beach here is 7km long, is divided by the Saricay (Yellow) Stream, and contains ruins of the ancient city of Pisilli.  Directly in front of the beach is Baba Ada (Father Island) which is a popular stopping point for the Blue Voyage Cruises and 850m inland from the beach is the village of Osmaniye which has small hotels and B&B’s, and 5-star hotels can also be found nearby.

For Dalaman take the Sarigerme - Dalaman road which will bring you to, what is today, a State Production Farm Centre, originally to have been a hunting lodge built for Abbas Pasha the Khedive of Egypt, and then had construction plans to be a train station for a railway that never materialised; the mosque of Abbas Pasha Camii is right next door.

Sarsala Cove

12km from Dalaman is the Sarsala Cove where you can enjoy the sulphurous thermal water and on route are some very scenic views, beautiful forest areas, the Tersakan (Reverse Flowing) Stream and many sulphurous lakes that merge into the sea.

The resort of Gocek is at the end of the Gulf of Gocek and has become very popular with tourists in recent years.  It has three separate yacht marinas and around the marina in the centre of town there are many hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, bars and shops. There are many daily boat tours available visiting beautiful, peaceful coves and islands that leave from the central marina or you can reach the coves using the main road along the Gulf of Gocek.

Fethiye is another very popular resort sitting on the edge of the Gulf and in the town itself and just above the yacht marina is the ancient theatre of Telmessos and on the hillside the Ionic tomb of King Amyntas. There are plenty of hotels, shops, restaurants and bars here to suit everyone.

Oludeniz is 14km from Fethiye famed as the beautiful “Blue Lagoon” has a Long Beach of golden sand and turquoise sparkling water and is extremely popular with tourists and is also famous for paragliding.

Hisaronu and Kayakoy

On route to here is Hisaronu that is chock full of entertainment venues and the ghost village of Kayakoy that was abandoned during the Greek Turkish population exchange in the 1920s and remains much the same today as it did then.
