Tomb of Amyntas Fethiye

Tomb of Amyntas Fethiye
This ancient tomb is also referred to as the Fethiye Tomb and is located on the site of the ancient city of Telmessos that was built at the base of the mountainside.  The tomb was constructed in 350 BC and its name derives from an inscription on its side which reads “Armyntou tou Ermagiou” and translates to “Amyntas, son of Hermagios”. It was built by the Lycian’s and its Ionic temple façade has been carved out of sheer rock, it is the highest of the tombs and unique because of its large temple-like interior comparing it to the other rock tombs that are much smaller.  

Although it’s a fairly steep climb up, there is a restaurant where you can take a break before continuing up to the top to reach the tomb and be rewarded with a stunning view over Fethiye and the sea below.
