Guided “mushroom-hunting” walking tours are available in the nearby hills that take you through the beautiful wooded slopes leading up to the high mountains and surrounding fertile valley that looks like a huge green amphitheatre.
RestaurantsUzumlu has several good restaurants offering local house specialities and in the evenings live music is played on a traditional Turkish stringed instrument known as a “saz”.
Every April the village hosts the famous “Mushroom Festival” which is held over 3 days and not only does is highlight the local delicacy “Morel” mushroom but has everything from traditional music and folk dancing along with presentations on local history and culture.
ShopsThe village also has several shops selling all sorts of lovely fresh produce and freshly baked breads, and at the weekend hold their market in the main square offering a vast amount of organic fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices, with outdoor stalls selling stuffed pancakes, hot morel soup and locally produced wine.
