Ataturk Bridge Istanbul
The original bridge built here was known as the “Jewish Bridge” (Yahudi Köprüsü) and was made with wooden planks. The bridge was actually built so that the residents crossing the Golden Horn would not have to pay for using a boat and for that reason it was also known as “Pious Deed Bridge” (Hayrat Köprüsü) and its name was changed to Ataturk Bridge or Unkapani Bridge in 1935. However, today it is mainly known as the Ataturk Bridge.
Location of Ataturk BridgeThe bridge links the Unkapani Kucukpazar in the district of Fatih (the historical side of Istanbul) with the Azapkapi in Beyoglu district.
