Aviation Museum Istanbul

Aviation Museum is within the Air Command Headquarters of Istanbul and opened in 1985 after being moved from Izmir for lack of interest there. The museum has a total area of 15,000sqm of which 12,000sqm are in the open and 3,000sqm are under cover.
At the museum entrance there is an information video played for visitors and oil paintings, bronze busts and information of eminent Turkish commanders who made a positive mark on Turkish Aviation are showcased in the Commander Busts Hall. The Uniform Section of the museum houses collections of historical value with uniforms of the first aviation commanders from the Ottoman Empire on display. The uniform and medals of Fethi Bey who was the first aviation martyr of the Ottoman Empire is a popular attraction at the museum. In the Arms Section there are rockets and weapons used by warplanes along with other historical material for those interested in military aviation.
Exhibits at the Aviation Museum
