Beylerbeyi Mosque Istanbul

Beylerbeyi Mosque Istanbul
Beylerbeyi Mosque is on the Asian shoreline of the Bosphorus right next to Beylerbeyi Quay. It was built in 1778 and commissioned by Sultan Abdulhamid I to commemorate his mother, Rabia Sultan, and designed by architect Tahir Aga.

The baroque style mosque was built using cut stone, with an octagonal shape, has two minarets and 55 windows. The single dome is in front of the mosque’s niche that is covered with a half-dome.  The interior of the mosque is decorated with engravings and inscriptions and is an excellent example of different cultures merging together.
