There is a park next to a small beach in Caddebostan that are overlooked by two wonderful 19th century mansions.  The most striking is the Ragip Pasa Mansion (Köşkü) built in 1906 and designed by August Jasmund ( famed for his work on the Sirkeci Railway Station ) and at that time it would have stood on the waterfront.  Ragip Pasa (1857-1920) was the aide-de-camp to Sultan Abdulhamid II and exiled to Rhodes in 1908 and never actually got to live in the house.  

On the main road here there is a single storey building that was once a selamlık (men’s area) and the building next to it belonged to Ragip’s daughter, Tevhide Hanim; Ragıp also built three hans in and around Istiklal Road .
