Cerrahpasa Istanbul

Cerrahpasa Istanbul
This part of the Istanbul although housed in the city walls and with many grand and historic mosques and other monuments is rarely visited by tourists and is really worth taking a look at.

The Cerrahpaşa Hospital area has almost as many beautiful mosques as in Uskudar and is easily reached by heading west from Aksaray
Its name derives from Cerrah (Surgeon) Mehmed Paşa, a barber who was honoured to carry out the circumcision of the future Sultan Mehmed III and was thus rewarded with the title of surgeon.
