Davud Pasa Mosque Istanbul

Davud Pasa Mosque Istanbul
This 1485 mosque can be found on Davut Pasa Medresesi Street and Davud Pasa was Grand Vizier to Sultan Beyazıd II.  The mosque has a rather shallow dome and the excellent five arched portico has side chambers where travelling dervishes would spend the night. Davud Paşa’s tomb is in the cemetery behind the mosque. The medrese is across the road and although it’s the oldest medrese in the city, it lies in ruins.  Inside in the overgrown courtyard are columns from the Byzantine era that were reused in the building.  If you want to take a look at them ask for the key from the nearby Ehl-I Keyf café.
