Fenerbahce Park Istanbul

Fenerbahce Park Istanbul
Fenerbahce Park is in an area just south of Kalamis Marina on a promontory that juts out into the Bosphorus and was turned into a public park in the 19th century and became a very popular recreational centre.  Prior to that it was where Byzantine emperors and Ottoman sultans built their summer palaces.  In the 1990s it fell into neglect and was thankfully rescued by Celik Gulersoy and his Turkish Touring and Automobile Association.
The park offers fabulous views out towards Sarayburnu and the Princes’ Islands and is a very popular place to stroll particularly at the weekends.  In the spring the park fills with tulips and there are other sections that are set aside for cultivating wild flowers.
