Goksu Stream Istanbul
The Sweet Waters of AsiaAlthough the stream that runs along the Anatolian Fortress is rather unimportant today it was once one of two extremely significant waterways, the other being the Kucuksu River , that jointly made up the recreational area called “The Sweet Waters of Asia”. The banks along here were lined with leafy green spaces and parks, where wooden bridges allowed strollers to look down on to boats that were bringing even more visitors.
Goksu GalasThe area would be particularly busy on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays when the Göksu Galas would be held and many people would gather to participate, and up until the 1960s the area was still mostly undeveloped.
In the past, during springtime, the banks and meadows would be covered in snowdrops and wild cyclamen that unfortunately today have been concreted over although the river pleasure boats offer a charming view as they moor in order along the riverside.
