Ivaz Efendi Mosque Istanbul
This impressive mosque was built in 1580 by an unknown architect and sits directly above the remains of Blachernae Palace and against the towers that form part of it. It has a single minaret, excellent Iznik tiles on the face of the mihrab, unique internal wooden porticoes and on the terrace are stones with hollows in them that would have once been used as supports for flagpoles.
Head downhill a little further and on the right is the Emir Buhari Tekke (dervish lodge) that dates back to 1513. It was rebuilt in the 19th century and underwent complete restoration in 2009.
