Narlikapi Istanbul

Narlikapi Istanbul
This gate once gave emperors access to the monastery for them to pray or when they would visit on August 29 which is the feast day commemorating St. John the Baptist’s execution. The gate is slightly hidden from view behind the Armenian Church of Surp Havhonnes which opens on Sunday mornings and is worth a visit.

Getting to Narlikapi

You can use the suburban stations at Yenikapi or Kocamustafapasa heading to Samatya . Take the Bus No. 35C from Eminonu or Taksim to Samatya. Sea buses leave Yenikapı daily for Guzelyani ( Bursa ), Bandirma (for transfers to Izmir ) and Yalova . A service also runs to Marmara Islands in the summer months.
