Saint Espirit Church Istanbul

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Sisli is also known as St. Esprit Cathedral and sits on Cumhuriyet Avenue in the Sisli’s Pangalti area and is one of the main Catholic churches in Istanbul. St. Esprit is the second largest Roman Catholic Church in the city after the Basilica of S. Antonio di Padova found on Beyoglu’s Istiklal Street. The baroque style church was built in 1846 and has been visited several times Popes Paul VI, John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, and the Cathedral has a statue of Pope Benedict XV erected in its courtyard.
