Sakip Sabanci Museum Istanbul
Haci Omer Sabanci began collecting in 1940 and his son Sakip expanded the collection which includes items such as 18th and 19th century Chinese porcelain, and superb French porcelain from the 1800s, pieces of Famille noire and verte, polychrome vases and decorated plates; many Sèvres vases, and the German porcelain from Berlin and Vienna are among the most valuable items in the collection.
The calligraphic collection has almost 400 items and offer visitors a comprehensive view of over 500 years of Ottoman calligraphic art. along with Korans and prayer books, manuscripts, calligraphic panels, decrees, imperial documents, declarations, imperial seals, poetry books and calligraphic tools.
The Sakip Sabanci Museum also has more than 320 paintings from Ottoman and Republican eras and the works of famous Ottoman and Turkish artists that include Osman Hamdi Bey, Ibrahim Calli, Halil Pasa and European artists Fausto Zonaro and Ivan Ayvazovsky.
