Sultan’s Reception Room in Dolmabahce Palace
Passing through a small sitting room you come to a beautiful Hamam which was the sultan’s private Turkish Bath complete with marble floors and walls of honey-coloured Egyptian alabaster. The Memorial Room is the last room in the selamlik which has paintings and photographs of sultans, and walking around the corridor of the Muayede Hall, that has windows allowing the women of the Harem to watch what was happening below without actually being seen themselves, it leads to the end of the corridor and where the Sultan’s Reception Room is in the Harem. This delightful room is also known as the Crimson or Domed Room, after its obvious décor features, and is where the sultan would receive his wives and children.
