Tomb of Abdulhamid I Istanbul
LocationThis tomb is on Hamidiye Road in Eminonu and opposite the Fourth Vakif Han.
The TombAbdulhamid I reigned from 1774-1789 and is buried here in this lovely tomb in a small precinct along with his son, Mustafa IV, who struggled to rule from 1807-1808 during the blood thirsty Janissary revolt. The tomb has wonderfully restored features and some exceptionally beautiful 18th century tiled calligraphy along with a set of Mohammed’s footprints that have been preserved in a niche in the wall.
