It is 24km from Izmir’s city centre and over the past 10 years has become a popular residential place for the city’s more affluent people.
Local revenue is made from fishing, viniculture and other agricultural activities, especially greenhouse cultivation, and it has managed to maintain its rural character.
Along the seafront are stalls selling fresh fish and the many restaurants there take the fish and cook it for you for a small fee and also offer a menu of different types of meze (starters) and salads along with drinks.
