Narlidere Izmir

Narlidere Izmir
Narlidere is one of the nine districts in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Izmir and one of the smallest in both population and size, is on the southern coastline of the inner Gulf of Izmir 10km from the city centre.
It has the neighbouring districts are Menderes (Cumaovası) on the south and Guzelbahce on the west and is the last westernmost district of Izmir.
Narlıdere is also known for its high levels of education with a literacy rate of 93%.

It was originally established as a village by semi-nomadic Tahtacı-Alevi Turks in the 18th century and is still mainly inhabited by their descendents who have preserved the traditions and culture and recently restored the Cemevi Seminary.

Its economy is largely based on agriculture mainly from citrus fruit and flowers, and the new housing projects built here aimed at high-income residents have placed it in an advantageous position; there is a five-star hotel been built here ( Crowne Plaza Hotel )and Narlıdere is another of Izmir's metropolitan districts with one of the fastest growing economies.
