Ancient Neopolis or Yilanci Peninsula Kusadasi
This ancient site is a little further along from Pigeon Island and is on the second peninsula. Neopolis is believed to have been the first inhabited area of Kusadasi and was once ruled by the Ionians when it controlled trade between other cities. It suffered many earthquakes over the years and consequently the city collapsed into the sea creating a sunken city. There are few remains visible there today and ceramic pieces, wall remnants, clay and glass pots that date from Roman and Byzantine eras found here are now displayed at the Ephesus Museum .
How to get to NeopolisIt is close to the centre of Kuşadaşı, just after Pigeon Island, and the Ladies Beach (Kadinlar Denizi) dolmus minibus passes through there every 3 minutes.
