This area is a wonderful place for lovers of nature and has the Dilek peninsular located to its south. There are pine-forests, various picnic areas and trails for trekking. The higher you go the denser the forest becomes, wild animals can be seen in their natural habitat and historical places such as Findikli Castle, Kursunlu Monastery and the Malia City ruins all hidden in this beautiful scenic area.


The famous historian Herodotus described the Aegean coast as “the place under the most beautiful sky that we ever know on earth and the place where the finest climate is ever enjoyed…” and this certainly describes the paradise of Davutlar; the town’s mayor is quoted as saying “those who live here are very lucky people indeed”.

Location of Davutlar

The Davutlar district is within the borders of the area of Kusadasi in the Aydin Province and stretches over 412 square kilometres in the northern part of the Dilek Peninsula. It is surrounded by the Aegean Sea on the west, Guzelcamli on the north, Kusadasi on the south and Soke on the east.

Climate of Davutlar in Kusadasi

This region has a mediterranean climate, hot and dry in the summer, warm and rainy in the winter, although if compared to the Mediterranean, the summers here are warmer, the humidity ratio is lower and the winters are cooler. There is an annual rainfall that averages 645-650mm and the temperature averages 16.6˚C with the coldest month in January and the hottest in July.

History of Davutlar

Located in the western part of Anatolia there have been various civilisations existing here back to the earliest of times because of its great climate and natural resources, and from research made it is known the Carians and Lelegians once inhabited the area. The region of Davutlar was extremely important to the Ionians and the ancient cities of Ephesus , Miletus , Priene and Phygale or Pigale, all of which are nearby, made the area industrious commercially and politically and continued to maintain its importance throughout subsequent periods of time.
