Kaleici Mosque Kusadasi

Kaleici Mosque Kusadasi
This excellent example of Ottoman architecture is located in the centre of Kusadasi and was built in the 17th century by the Grand Vizier Okuz Mehmet Pasha, and is still used today for prayer.

Architecture of Kaleici Mosque

The mosque was renovated in 1830, it is covered by a dome on a 12-sided frame that has 16 windows, it has a single minaret and the sides of the entrance doors are beautifully decorated with geometric inserts and inlays of mother-of-pearl, the narthex has been constructed using wood.

Tip for Entry

As this is a working mosque visitor’s should avoid coming during prayer times and to ensure they wear appropriate attire (shoulders, arms, legs should be covered) otherwise entry will be prohibited.
