Saadet Hatun Public Bath Museum Kusadasi

Saadet Hatun Public Bath Museum Kusadasi
These Turkish baths were originally Roman and as baths were a significant part of the Roman culture their importance continued through to the mid-Byzantine era, later dropped from Mediterranean and European countries and actively reappearing into Turkish culture.

The Saadet Hatun Hamam is one of seven in the Selcuk district and according to inscriptions found here it is thought that Saadet Hatun was a noble woman from Aydinogullari governmental linage and dates back to the 16th century. It has most of its traditional features and includes hot, warm and cold sections. The baths remained in a state of disrepair and in 1972 underwent restoration carried out by the Ephesus Museum .
