Amos Ruins Marmaris

Amos Ruins Marmaris
These ancient ruins can be accessed via Asarcik Hills which are northwest of Kumlubuk Bay and date back to Hellenistic times.

There is a hillside amphitheatre which remains in good condition having a seating area, side walls and stage with three chambers. Other ruins include a temple with statue podiums and the surrounding ramparts date from the same time period.

During excavations in 1948 Prof. Bean uncovered four inscriptions that mention three rental contracts believed to date back to 200 BC.

How to get to Amos

To get to Amos take the dolmus minibus from Turunc to Kumlubuk as it passes through Amos.
