Bayir Village Marmaris

Bayir Village Marmaris
Bayir is actually built on the ancient city of Syrna and where the mosque stands today is believed to have been a temple dedicated to Asklepios who was the god of health.

Things to do in Bayir

Visit the acropolis that is 2km from the northeast side of the village and you can walk there in just half an hour, you will see remains of the city walls, some structures, and gravestones.  In the village there is the Old Plane Tree that is 2,300 years of age and is a very popular tourist attraction.

Jeep Safari

Bayir can be found on the southwest of  Marmaris and the village here is a very popular stop for the jeep safari tours where you can sit under huge plane trees drinking refreshments and we recommend that you sample the local food and drinks whilst you are here. Also take a drink of water from the fountain that is in the centre of the village and it is only a 10 minute walk downhill from here to get to the beach.

How to get to Bayır

There is a boat service from Marmaris to the Bayir beach area that takes about one hour.
