British Port or Ingiliz Limanı
British Port is always calm, even in bad weather, and until the 1970s it had thick pine forest all the way down to the waterside. The port’s name derives from the fact that during World War II two British warships took refuge here and at night would leave and attack German held islands and their ships and return to hide in the cove covering their craft with tree branches which hid them during the day. In the 70s the area was badly burnt by forest fire and fortunately the pines have since continued to grow back.
