Okluk Cove Gokova
At the mouth of Okluk there is a statue of a mermaid on a rock; the monument was a gift to Okluk and Gokova from Sadun Boro, a boat owner who has travelled the seas of world, and this is where he comes to drop anchor at the end of each voyage. It was sculpted by Tanku Oktem and has an inscription reading “The mermaid, in order to realise her dream, has travelled over so huge a sea, crossed the horizons. She went through continents, islands and coves until she got to GOKOVA”.
The south side of the cove is flat with gardens and boats can tie up at the quay, drop anchor in the quiet waters or moor against a tree.
Visitors will find restaurants and markets, the cove offers some very beautiful walking routes and there is a 2km dirt track that links to a 25km road leading to Marmaris.
