Sand at Kleopatra Beach receives 24 Hour Security

Sand at Kleopatra Beach receives 24 Hour Security
Kleopatra Beach located in Marmaris Sedir Island receives more than 100,000 visitors each year and it is home to golden yellow high quality sand. To protect the sand, the local municipality installed a 24 hour security system, and visitors are not allowed to take their slippers or towels with them to the beach. Before leaving the beach, all the visitors are asked to take a shower to avoid having sand particulars on them.

Thanks to the donations of the European Union and the new laws introduced in Turkey, in the past three years the amount and the quality of the sand increased greatly.

Cleopatra Beach History

Kleopatra Beach is believed to be the meeting place of Queen Kleopatra and her boyfriend Roman commander Antonius. Some say that the sand was brought from Egypt by Antonius as a gesture to Kleopatra.
