The town is located 60km northeast of Gaziantep and is one of the least used starting points for trips to the Nemrut Mountains, and well worth visiting when here is the copper bazaar on the south side of the bus station and just behind there the Kervansaray which is used as a place for tethering animals.
MuseumIn the museum here are artefacts of local tumulus (burial mounds) which were excavated before being submerged by the waters of the Ataturk Dam and in the old quarter is a small Syrian/Armenian church with a lovely green garden.
Touristic Tours to NemrutTours and excursions to Nemrut can be booked at the bus station and there are a few relatively cheap hotels available with basic rooms that are close to restaurants and shops, with just a couple of slightly more upmarket hotels available that have swimming pools.
