Paragliding in Pamukkale Denizli
Pamukkale sits at the foot of Mount Çökelen 21km away from Denizli and is a very popular tourist destination with good transport links around the region. Pamukkale is famed for its ancient ruins and travertine formations made from limestone and water over many thousands of years and hot thermal waters that attract vast amounts of visitors. Here you will find two take off points. The Landing Runway is at the end of the plains of the region, has no obstacles and is very safe. Due to the climate in this region and from the impact of the underground warm waters good flights can be made all year round although stronger hot winds in the summer months can cause turbulence around midday.
Training HillHas a Take-off Runway at a height of 70m and is best suited to beginners and amateurs. After sun rise the south-westerly wind blows until around midday then increases speed moving westward and stops completely when the sun sets.
Dynamite WarehouseThe Take-off Runway took its name from a former dynamite warehouse that was at the 300m peak and its slope is wide enough for two wings to take-off easily at the same time. From here there are wonderful views over Pamukkale. The hill gives good morning flights from the westerly winds and after midday it has thermal winds that give experienced pilots long flights. The Landing Runway is at the end of the flight track but you can also use the helicopter runway at the entrance of the travertine. As turbulence can form around midday in summer months maximum control of flights are essential and turbulence can occur at the end of the Take-off runway during strong winds. Also cross winds can cause the chute to close just after take-off and as the hill has a high slope a fast run is required for successfully lifting off.
