Saray and Fatih BridgesFurthest upstream are the 15th century Saray (Süleyman) and Fatih bridges that join the left and right banks of the river with the river island of Saray Içi.
Saray Ici and Edirne Palace
Beyazit or Tek Goz BridgeFollowing downstream is the 17th century Beyazit Bridge better known as the Tek Göz Köprüsü (one-eyed bridge) because of its single hump.
Beyazit II ComplexOver the bridge is the İkinci Beyazit Külliyesi the largest Ottoman spiritual and physical welfare complex ever to be built and constructed between 1484 and 1488 by architect Hayrettin. Within the single boundary wall and under 100 domes it housed a mosque, food warehouse, bakery, hostels for pilgrims and dervishes, medical school and an asylum for the insane. The therapy centre (darüşşifa) was where the mentally ill were treated using different techniques, such as the sound of music and water, the use of pleasant aromas and occupational therapy.
This is now home to the Trakya University Museum of Health that has a collection of old medical equipment and photographs.
