Aegean Region has a rich natural and cultural beauty, with 593 km of coastline. Mountains reaching the coastline create a very unique natural beauty. Sunbathing facilities and the appropriateness of seawater temperatureattract many tourists to the Aegean coastline. The seawater temperature in the Aegean region increases from north to the south. While people can swim for eight months in Bodrum , you can only swim for five to six months in Kusadasi .
 
Spas, located in the Aegean region, are crucial for health tourism in Turkey. Karahayit and Pamukkale spas in Denizli ; Balcova , Dikili , Davutlar , Cesme , and Sifne spas in Izmir ; Doganbey spa in the south of Seferihisar; Simav Gediz, Yoncali, Harlek and Murat Mountain spas and hot springs in Kutahya; Kursunlu and Sart spas in Manisa ; Sandikli and Gazligoz spas in Afyon are crucial resorts for health tourism. Especially, Pamukkale hot springs are well known since the ancient times and have been attracting many tourists all over the world. The most important feature of Pamukkale is its travertines. Hot mineral waters were poured down for years and turned the slopes into white travertines. The region was called Pamukkale (cotton castle in Turkish) because of the whiteness caused by the calcium carbonate. The region attracts many tourists thanks to this incredible beauty. 

 
Aegean region has two national parks built to protect the natural and historical beauties in the region. Dilek Peninsula National Park is located in Kusadasi Aydin . It consists of the most beautiful examples of the mediterranean vegetation. Secondly, Spildagi National Park in Manisa is like a shelter for those who run away from the hot weather in Manisa. Manisa tulips, which gave its name to a period during Ottomans, grow naturally here. Additionally, this national park has ancient ruins.

Aegean region attracts many tourists with its archaeological and historical beauty. Some of the most famous historial places that you can visit are: Ephesus and Bergama or Pergamon in Izmir ; Pamukkale (Hierapolis) in Denizli ; Priene , Miletos , Didim , Afrodisias in Aydin ; Knidos in Datca ; Halicarnassus in Bodrum ; Sart ruins in Manisa . Two of the seven world wonders are located in the Aegean region: Temple of Artemis of Ephesus and Halicarnassus Mausoleion. Virgin Mary’s house in Selcuk and Temple of Apollo in Didim is famous worldwide.
 
While Aegean coast has large number of beautiful and famous holiday resorts, some of the most famous ones are: Bodrum , Kusadasi , Cesme , Foca , Ayvalik , Didim , Akbuk , Datca , Marmaris , Fethiye , Dalaman and Dalyan . Aegean coast is also home to the third largest city in Turkey, Izmir . It has a popular harbour and arguably it is known as the second largest trading destination, after Istanbul .
