Sultan Bayezid II

Sultan Bayezid II
Sultan Bayezid II Han
Father:  Sultan Mehmed II
Mother:  Mükrime Hatun
Year of Birth:  1452 -
Accession to the Throne:  19/5/1481
Year of Death: 1512

Bayezid was 36 years old when he ascended to the throne and during his initial years as ruler he captured the Kili and Akkirman fortresses in Moldavia. He then marched to Morea and seized the towns and fortresses on the peninsular there and moved the Greek inhabitants to Karaman settling them in place of the exiled Karaman Turcoman because of the trouble they had caused there. He built many public buildings and performed acts of charity.
Bayezid was tall, strong, had muscular upper arms, a broad and high chest, he was fair skinned, had a lion nose, hazel eyes, black eyebrows that joined together and a dark fringe. His robes were made of silk brocade and he wore a turban coiled and wound. Although it was customary for sultans to wear elaborate and rich clothing he refrained from such pomp and did not spend more than the income he received and actually would be so frugal he would save money from it.
