Ingredients

750gr minced Beef or Lamb
2 small grated Onions
3 slices of dry Bread crusts removed
3 large peeled and chopped Tomatoes
2 cloves crushed Garlic
2 teaspoons of Cumin
2 teaspoons of Salt
½ teaspoon of Pepper
250ml of Oil

How to prepare

This recipe makes 6 servings.
Soak the bread in water and squeeze out any excess using your hands.
Crumble the bread and add to the meat.
Add the onion, garlic, cumin, salt and pepper and knead well for 10 minutes.
Make large walnut size balls in your hands and then press down to flatten them out.
Heat the oil, add the meatballs and lightly brown them on both sides.
Remove from the fry pan and arrange them in a flat pan with a lid.
Cover them with the chopped tomato and sprinkle on salt.
Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes on a medium heat.
Alternatively you can place slices of potato, tomato and bell peppers on top of the meatballs.
The Turkish name for this recipe is Kimyonlu Sahan Köftesi.
