Pilaf with Chickpeas
150ml rinsed and drained Long Grain Rice
540ml tin of rinsed and drained Chickpeas
1 small finely chopped Onion
300ml of Chicken or Beef Stock
2 tablespoons of Butter
1 teaspoon of Salt
Pinch of Pepper
How to prepare
This recipe makes 2-3 servings
Melt the butter and lightly fry the onion for 2-3 minutes.
Add the rice and cook for another 2-3 minutes constantly stirring.
Pour in the chicken stock, add the salt and pepper and reduce the heat to low.
Stir in the chickpeas 5 minutes before the rice is cooked and the water has been fully absorbed.
Allow the rice to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
The Turkish name for this dish is Nohutlu Pilav
