Ingredients

200gr plus5 tablespoons of unsalted Butter (room temperature)
2½ tablespoons of Sugar
120ml of Sunflower Oil
120ml of Yogurt
450gr of Flour
½ teaspoon of Salt
1 teaspoon of Baking Powder
1 teaspoon of Mahlep (optional)
To glaze:
1 Egg Yolk
2 tablespoons of Black Cumin Seeds

How to prepare

Pre-heat the oven to 205˚C.
In a large bowl slowly mix by hand the butter, sugar, yogurt and sunflower oil.
Add the flour, baking powder, salt and mahlep (if using) and knead.
Divide the dough into 12 pieces and mould them into long rope-like shapes.
Squeeze the two ends together to form an oval shape and  place them on an oven tray lined with parchment paper.
Brush with egg yolk, sprinkle on the seeds and bake for 30 minutes until they are a golden colour.
This recipe makes approx.12 Catal.
