Sultanahmet is one of the seven hills of the old Istanbul. The centre of Konstantin polis was located in this area. Ottoman Sultans built their most charming palaces and mosques in this region.
The most famous structure in Sultanahmet is Hagia Sophia. Hagia Sophia is a wonderful example of the Byzantine architecture. It is still accepted as one of the most beautiful churches of the world. Sultanahmet reaches the Marmara Sea with narrow streets, full of traditional Ottoman houses.
When you are in Sultanahmet, we would advice you to visit the Yerebatan Sarnici ( Basilica Cistern ) and Kapali Carsi, world's largest covered bazaar.
